82559 compatible with 82551?

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience using the 82559 driver with an 82551
chip?

Intel is not recommending the use of the 82559 chip for new designs. 
They are recommending the 82551QM or the 82551ER.  The data sheets claim
the 82551 is software compatible with the 82559, and it has a
programmable PCI Device ID - so it can advertise itself as a 82559.  I
would however feel comforted it someone had seen it work!
