We use EST Vision-ICE (now WRS) debuggers for MPC850 development.
They work reasonably well and work under Windows and Solaris. They did have
a Linux port in progress last time I checked, which was over one year ago.
I had used AMCC CodeTap in the past with good results also, though I think
the Vision-ICE has more features and is less obscure to get started
initially.
(Yes, I know some people equate WRS with Microsoft. We bought the debuggers
while EST was still an independent company...)
