Trace32 in-circuit emulators, debuggers, and
simulators for the
PowerPC family now include ready-to-run support
for the eCos
operating system. The eCos source code is
distributed under the GNU
general public license. Existing Trace32
customers receive eCos
compatibility for free. At present, eCos
compatibility is available only
for those Trace32 tools that support the PowerPC
processor, but
additional processor ports are planned. By means
of these tools, the
OS's scheduler and threads can be viewed in
special windows. A stack
analysis capability measures the stack usage of
each thread. Based on
the sampled records in Trace32 analyzers, thread
switches can be
graphically examined and displayed. A
performance analysis tool
evaluates thread and function run times.
Statistic tables give
information about system usage. The Trace32
debugger supports the
eCos RTOS without requiring changes to the
application or kernel.
