Thanks a lot. I have applied your fix and increased buffer size, which
seems to cure the rare problem that the server crashed completely.

It did not affect the primary problem that the servers hangs under
increased traffic and needs a lot of time to recover.

For a check I have written my own small Webserver. It suffers under exactly
the same problem, so I am now pretty sure it is an eCos, no longer a
GoAhead problem.
