Terminology is perhaps confusing here.  I'd hope that the 
entire standard is informative and informational.  :-)

I think that a sentence early in the document that states
that text in italics and the appendices are not part of the
standard, but are used to illustrate and explain the use of
Dwarf would be adequate.
