You don't have to do that. You can just use <citerefentry>...</> as I
showed in the example.
In case you didn't realise, <citerefentry> and the others are standard
DocBook.
The only thing that creating the entities does is cut down on the amount
of typing required.
Or am I misunderstanding you?
