That's a very good point.
I'd been thinking of the usage of <p> as inviolable. This is my
practice, anyway. But I can't find anything in the HTML 4.01 or the
XHTML 1.0 specification that says you _must_ contain a paragraph with
<p>.
Freed of that constraint (apparently?), your suggestion is elegant,

Thanks. That was next on my list of annoyances to figure out/find out
if it was already fixed. :)
