It says that "Xalan J2.2-D14 is known to work with both the 1.48 XSL
chunk.xsl and docbook.xsl stylesheets under Java 1.3.1_01".
Xalan-2.0.0 seems to be a bit old, IMHO. You might also want to try Saxon
(>=6.4.2) or xsltproc.
