Did you precompile .el files to .elc? I didn't recognized any slowdown
when I switched to 21.
And some important info for anyone going to Emacs 21. Latest version of
psgml-1.2.2 doesn't work with Emacs 21. You must apply several patches
firest. Patches are avaiable in Emacs 21 when you press C-h P.
