An oldie - but goodie is the setup of the pdftex
for SGML/DocBook (on Linux systems).
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-13d (Web2C 7.3.1)
(bog.tex[/usr/share/texmf/pdftex/config/pdftex.cfg]
JadeTeX 1999/06/29: 2.7
I have extended several of the entries in
/usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf but in this case I do
not seem to have enough knowledge on selecting the
right one.
My document has approx. 1000 pages - containing a set
of 10 SGML/DocBooks :)
As you can see below I smash into some TeX capacity
number of strings=55456
Currently I have in /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf
max_strings.context = 555000
max_strings.jadetex = 550000
max_strings.pdfjadetex = 5500000
max_strings = 150000
Hints on which parameter is actually tune up are of
very high interest!!
My very best
