no, I think not

if i was rewriting jadetex from scratch (whicg I am not!), I'd throw away TeX tables and build up cells from scratch. that may be the only viable approach
my guess is that hacking it into jadetex will be quite hard,
but you never know. I just tried in passivetex, and despaired :-}
