List of Figures with figures inside <procedure><step>

Hi,
We are using Norman Walsh's DSSSL style sheet, version 1.54. After
some reorganizing of our book structure (using the <procedure>
element), a lot of our figures disappeared from the List of Figures.
I identified the portion in Normans style sheet that generates the
list of figures. And it seems that he only goes down to block level
when locating figures.
We therefore added (list-element-list) in the
(node-list-filter-by-gi ...)
We then got the figures inside <step> elements in the List of Figures.
Is there anything we should watch out for when doing this?
Norman? Can you add this into your next release?
