Hi Norman,
a) footnote are rendered properly
b) highlights are not rendered xt complains no template
c) in glosslist /glossentry/glossterm content used to rendered in bold but not
anymore 
d) how do i generate lines (border) for a table what attribute on all four
sides but no in the inside
e) xalan doesn't work with your stylesheets and this
has got nothing to do with you, xalan has bugs 
f) saxon works but cannot handle <abstract>

i have enclosed an sample file as you suggested 
and some of the output to conserve on bandwidth
