Hello Larry

On 23.09.08, you wrote:

'.' as a directory in a path signifies the "current" directory. You don't
want to specify this for any path in your '/etc/passwd' file. As for the
slowdown you experienced, I explained earlier in this thread why that
happened. It has nothing to do with setting HOME but rather has to do with
the directory you set as your home and the access you have to it.

seem i forget to say, i use windows always as admin, so i have access to
all.

Not to beat a dead horse but running as "Administrator" under Windows does not afford you all the same benefits and permissions that running as "root" under Linux/Unix does. You can check if the directory in question is accessible by "Administrator" using 'getfacl' on that directory. You can also check the permissions on the security tab in Windows to make sure that the "Administrator" has access either directly or through inheritance from its parent directory. I point this out because on my machine "Administrator" doesn't have access to my home directory.

but ok it work now, when i not change the home dir in cygwin.bat

Glad you were able to find a solution that meets your need.
