Re: Cygwin Newbie Question

The process I used was the following:

Click setup.exe -->
Installation Type=install from internet -->
(Root Directory = c:\cygwin)&&(Install for all users)&&(Default Text Type=Unix) -->
Local Package Directory =c:\...\Desktop -->
Internet Connection=Direct -->
Download Site=I Forget -->
(View=Category=Install All)&& Checkbox.Curr is clicked -->

After this I just let it install and clicked create shortcuts.

In previous installations I was able to create the home directory.
And set the variables in bash.

How would I create the /dev directory and why isnt setup.exe not working correctly? And why is bash_history in the c drive?
Thanks again,
Dave

It looks like the your /etc/passwd and/or /etc/group
files were not created correctly by the setup.exe
postinstall process. Can you describe the process you
used to install Cygwin?

Oh, and running
mkpasswd > /etc/passwd
mkgroup > /etc/group

might solve your HOME problem.
