Re: the g++ problem, looks like you're missing "c:\cygwin\bin" from your
system (windows) PATH.
As for your original problem, since noone else here is able to reproduce
it, would you be willing to try compiling bash from sources and inserting
some debugging output? It would be interesting to see what the problem
turns out to be.
