- Subject: "Segmentation fault" error in ld
The version of ld distributed with Cygwin (version 2.13.90 20021118) exits
with a "segmentation fault" error when launched with the -shared option
and passed a .def file with a syntax error.
An example: create a file with a .def extension, and the following content
-----------------
LIBRARY lib BASE 0x400000
EXPORTS
dllwrite
-----------------
(the syntax in line 1 is incorrect, there should be a = sign between BASE
and 0x400000 instead of a space) and type:
ld -shared -o <output file> <any object file[s]> <just-created .def file>
The output is
ld: <.def file>:1: parse error
Segmantation fault (core dumped)
