Actually, this appears to be a known problem with lesstif (the Motif implementation which nedit and other programs use). It looks like other distros may have a fix, but it will take me a little while until I can focus on this.

I've encountered the same problem with copying to the clipboard within nedit. As a workaround, I downgraded to libXm2-0.95.0-2, as the problem does not appears to occur with this older version of the lesstif.


There is a patch to lesstif-0.95.2 described in http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2846234&group_id=8596&atid=308596
Might this be the fix? (I don't have the knowledge to rebuild libXm2 myself, so I'm unable to test the patch.)
