french canadian keyboard - deadkey don't work

Hi,

I want to use XWin with the french canadian keyboard. I start XWin :
XWin -multiwindow -clipboard -silent-dup-error -xkbmodel "pc102" -xkblayout "ca(fr)"

When I try to use deadkeys, they don't work. I use "`" follow by "e" I get "`e" instead of "è".
The "`" key did not react as a deadkey.

Any help much appreciated.
