Could it be related to mixing (as you showed in your post)
  DISPLAY=
and
  Export DISPLAY
???


The example shows:


$ DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
$ export DISPLAY
$ ssh -X remotehost

or

$ DISPLAY=localhost:0.0 ssh -X remotehost

which is different from your original post.

May you tried all the combinations already?

and the like. This used to work. Does anyone have any idea what is
