Sorry, but it doesn't :-(
LyX still crashes when run for the first time (dialog box stating that
$HOME/.lyx will be created with default values). If I run it on the same
machine, but using a Linux box as X server, it runs fine and creates the
$HOME/.lyx directory. If I then run lyx with the Cygwin/XFree, it runs
without any problem (the dialog box at startup doesn't of course show up).
