Re: could not open default font 'fixed'


5 hours before I just had the same problem using 
Xinstall.sh on my W2K box. So I extracted the fonts 
manually - goto /usr/X11R6 ant type:

$ tar -xvzf <path where to find Xfnts.tgz>/Xfnts.tgz

Now everything works fine.

P.S.: 

I wondered why I have to add the -ac switch to start X,
even if I start a local session only? It took me some time
to find out that thing ;-)
