The following should be in one line and && is not recognized by start under
DOS on Win2K.  You need to split the xhost command:

>start XWin -screen 0 1024x768x16 -whitepixel 255 -blackpixel 0 


>REM -from 192.168.152.99 -query 192.168.152.99 && xhost + 

start XWin -screen 0 1024x768x16 -whitepixel 255 -blackpixel 0 -from

Hello. 


I have just installed the latest cygwin release and am trying now to install
xfree86. Although the symptoms look similar to several reports in the
cygwin-xfree archive, none of the remedies there seem to work. I have a DELL
Latitude 450 running Win2k. I was careful to run startxwin in a DOS window,
although I have also tried it with bash, and both give the same results. I
have tried DISPLAY defined as local and as the actual machine IP address,
192.168.152.99, and have invoked xwin with various flags like -from and
-query, and in conjunction with xhost + (these appear as REMs in the text of
startxwin.bat, below.) 


If I have somehow posted to the wrong list, please excuse a beginner.
Otherwise, any help would be gratefully received. Below is information that
might be helpful.
