That is what I did fro win32-x11 and decided to give up on DirectX for the
time being. It drove me nut as Harold explained. Assuming DirectDraw
specifications as M$ advertise it should have given a pretty damn good
server, but no.

This may be a silly question: but what about a no-framebuffer server?
GDI straight into a window? (And let the graphics card accelerate as
much as possible..?)
