RE: startup problems


The files to download are quite well doucmented in the installing
XFree86/Cygwin HOWTO, available from www.cygwin.com/xfree.

IIRC there is a problem with textmode mounts and xfree86 at the moment -
reinstall using Binary mounts. (just run setup again, and change text to
bin on the appropriate screen - you don't need to uninstall).

The complaint about libz.dll will be because you haven't isntalled all
of X or all of cygwin. Install all of the cygwin packages, not just the
cygwin1.dll. Follow the howto referenced above to install X - there are
about 3 critical tarballs.
