X on Win9x/NT allows for a transitionary period before the world switches to
GNU/Linux permanently :) Heh heh... at least, that's what I'm hoping for.

This is not obvious to me. This must be to run graphic unix ported
programs. If this is the case, can I startx from a DOS boot-ed prompt?
Some coverage for us newbies would be helpful.
