Just curious - is there a reason to prefer xargs vs. -exec?  I know
that xargs can be used to avoid shell command line length limits,
but are there other advantages?

Understood.  I'll go back and take a closer look at what's going
on, just to be sure I understand what's happening.

BTW - once I understood how the gbs is intended to work, it was
really helpful.  I'm planning on using it for a couple of other
packages as well.  Thanks for making my life a whole lot easier :-)
