Hello,
The perl setup.hint is^H^Hwas 'broken', it says^H^Hid:
curr: 5.8.1-1
Since the 5.8.0-3 is buggy and 5.8.1 is only usable with
cygwin-1.5.3-tobe, we have no real current perl right now:-(
But:
I've finished the perl-5.8.0-4 package now (compiled against
1.3.22), it should be available here now:
http://anfaenger.de/cygwin/perl/perl-5.8.0-4.tar.bz2
http://anfaenger.de/cygwin/perl/perl-5.8.0-4-src.tar.bz2
http://anfaenger.de/cygwin/perl/perl_manpages/perl_manpages-5.8.0-4.tar.bz2
md5sums:
f312ea1e79d0161b155cd2a42d6d2e36 *perl-5.8.0-4.tar.bz2
03d6b09b3d655aa756cf021f008ca39e *perl-5.8.0-4-src.tar.bz2
337290a6b5a3528a2cce208d1ad6a6dc *perl_manpages/perl_manpages-5.8.0-4.tar.bz2
This includes the binmode() fix which is also applied to the 5.8.1
package and where already was confirmed two times that compiling
cygwin from source is possible with this fix included.
Please upload and remove 5.8.0-3.
The setup.hint should read then:
category: Interpreters
requires: cygwin libgdbm3 libdb3.1
sdesc: "Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report Language"
ldesc: "Perl is a high-level programming language with roots in C,
sed, awk and shell scripting. Perl is good at handling processes
and files, and is especially good at handling text. Perl's
hallmarks are practicality and efficiency. While it is used to
do a lot of different things, Perl's most common applications are
system administration utilities and web programming. A large
proportion of the CGI scripts on the web are written in Perl.
You need the perl package installed on your system so that your
system can handle Perl scripts."
prev: 5.6.1-2
curr: 5.8.0-4
test: 5.8.1-1
Thanks,
Gerrit
