Yep, got them installed, but ...

And I'm particularly interested in this because I'm currently using a fairly
pathetic homegrown perl script to do this. (patchutils won't).
Well Tim suggests using lsdiff in concert with sed to generated file-by-file patches.

Andrew Morton has some slick scripts to manage patchsets, perhaps one of them might give you the necessary inspiration?
