More cross building woes

I'm trying to build GCC/3.4.4 with GLIBC/2.3.4 for PowerPC/860 using
crosstool-0.32-rc37. According to the crosstool build matrix, this
should [also] be a valid, working combination. However, the build
fails:

powerpc-860-linux-gnu-ranlib /work/ptx.ct/build/crosstool-0.28-rc37/build/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/gcc-3.4.3-glibc-2.3.4/build-libc/linuxthreads/libpthread_pic.a
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/work/ptx.ct/build/crosstool-0.28-rc37/build/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/gcc-3.4.3-glibc-2.3.4/build-libc/linuxthreads/pthread_atfork.oS', needed by `/work/ptx.ct/build/crosstool-0.28-rc37/build/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/gcc-3.4.3-glibc-2.3.4/build-libc/linuxthreads/'. Stop.

Any ideas?
