Which - to my investigation - boiled down more or less to PR8896 or outdated binutils. So far, I still find this release very stable across platforms. Oh well, famous last words I guess... Actually, looking at this thread, I get the impression that toolchain decisions are getting more and more based on gut-feelings than hard facts. Kind of worrying, isn't it?
