[much good stuff snipped] Unless one has ones own Linux-distribution, built from scratch, as the "specific target", one should take the binary-compatability issues very seriously and try to produce the apps just for the target, not for something else...
That's quite right. I suppose I should add a cautionary note to the crosstool doc laying out the issues Kai mentions, so newbies know that their target may set constraints on tool versions. - Dan
