Thanks John. I followed your suggestion and tried to build the sh-elf toolchain. With this I am facing the following error. I saw a few messages related to this and there is a problem with it but I don't remember what it was. My solution was to build for sh-elf and this built ok. Since I was using gdb/Insight which understands ELF, it was no problem. If you can use ELF, I would recommend trying to build sh-elf.
