OS_ABI field in ELF question

Hi
	I've cross-compiled some arm-linux stuff using both
glibc-2.1.1 and glibc-2.1.3 and the same gcc-2.95.2.
For those linked against the newest glibc the OS-ABI field (8th byte in
ELF file) is set to 61 (ARM - says readelf) while in the others this field
is 0.In the ELF docs I had read it is marked reserved.Could you shed some
light on this matter .Who needs/uses this field, ld.so ?

Thanks a lot and sorry if a bit OT ;-)

Jani.
