Cross-Compiler (Linux based) to 'powerpc-*-eabi' using egcs

Hi,

I'm trying to build a cross-compiler from Linux PC-based for an embedded
Atlas PowerPC motherboard and i wonder to myself which package (gcc or
egcs) associated with which target ('powerpc-*-eabi' or else) to use ?

I'm currently trying to use egcs_1.0.1 associated with a
'powerpc-motorola-eabi' target...

as : unrecognized option '-ppc'
make[3]....

So did i miss something, should i build binutils before or are they
useless...?
