re: SPARC64 & SPARC binutils

Is anyone working on fixes for the binutils for the SPARC_V9 (SPARC64)?

a few months ago i contributed patches to enable the "sparc64-netbsd" target
in binutils, but that's just a couple of configury changes, nothing at all
hard or touching actual code.

I see lots of activity on this list concerning intel stuff, along with a little
(much less...) concerning other platforms, but havn't been able to find much
activity on the SPARC, and SPARC64.

I assume that means that since they're pretty specialized products, there isn't
much demand for them, but every now and then, you still get someone like me who
   needs them.

i dunno about specialised. certainly the sparc support in binutils is used
by thousands of people every day... sparc64, probably much less :-)

I'll work on getting the SPARC64 port fixed, if no one else is, but don't want
to duplicate work that someone else may be doing.

what problem are you seeing? i've using the sparc64 binutils for some years
now and since 2.10 or so, i've not had a problem i can recall. binutils 2.10
is distributed with NetBSD/sparc64 1.5.. the only bug reports against the
toolchain i've seen logged are compiler ones (not surprising as gcc is the
major problem with sparc64 today).
