Sounds like you wanted a hook similar to target_extra_thread_info, but
in the app/scripting domain.
(gdb) info threads
* 1 Thread 1 main (argc=1, argv=0x...) at foo.c:28

On some targets/conditions, this can print as:
(gdb) info threads
* 1 Thread 1 (RANDOM_TARGET_INFO_GOES_HERE_COULD_BE_A_THREAD_NAME) main (argc=1, argv=0x...) at foo.c:28
